CMSC has new president.
Clara Peyre has volunteered to be club president. As per club bylaws, David submitted his resignation and Clara was voted in unanimously by the remaining club executives. Please pass on your thanks and congratulations to Clara when you see her in early morning or weekend swims, and your thanks to David for being the president for slightly longer than the usual two seasons. David will remain on as Past President.
Don’t spend all your Christmas money on other people… save some for yourself! With a lot of Cheryl’s help, the executive is organizing a club branded clothing purchase. We will have a few dates available to try clothing on for size before you buy.
For the first time, we are also offering CMSC branded training swim suits. Cheryl is finalizing the design with the manufacturer, but the initial versions look pretty sweet. You will be able to order any style of training suit they manufacture, in Cheryl’s design.
Details on clothing and suit purchases should be coming out in December, with delivery likely in January.
Not a Polar Bear swim… perhaps a Grizzly Swim?
It has been a tribute to Jeanne Carlsen, and we’d like to continue the tradition: join other club members to swim 100 x 100 on January 1 from 9-12:30. This is an un-coached workout. Join the lane for the interval time you’d like, and swim your choice of stroke for any distance up to the full 10,000 m. Please RSVP to this email so we can get an indication of interest for the lane rental.
Keep the Date: Christmas In January on January 12th.
CMSC is organizing a mid-year social on January 12 for lunch after the morning swim. Keep the date available now – more details & RSVP later.
That’s it for now, see you at the pool!
Welcome new and old swimmers!
The new season of CMSC will begin this Tuesday September 3rd. Please refer to the training schedule and your specific session time (evenings, early-mornings or mid-mornings) to ensure that you go to the correct session. We will have new Repsol access cards shortly, but in the meantime, previous members can continue to use their old cards, while new swimmers can request entry from the staff at the desk.
Over the coming weeks, please keep a lookout for CMSC e-mails, which is the main way we communicate with our membership.
I’m excited for a new season as I’m sure you all are as well – see you in the pool!
A number of weeks ago I sent out a team-wide e-mail regarding the unfortunate passing of Patrick (Pat) Malcolmson. However, this message was unfortunately buried among all of our registration e-mails. I would like to re-post that information here for everyone in the event people had missed the message:
On Monday July 22, Pat Malcolmson passed away. Pat was one of the original members of CMSC and will be deeply missed. Pat’s obituary can be found HERE. The memorial service has already been completed, where many people paid their respects to Pat and the incredible life he led.
As usual, I know I speak for the entire executive and membership when I say how sad we are of this news.
