To follow up on my earlier email regarding Stampede Parking we now have clarification on whether we have to pay to park during the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. MNP says as sport partners we do not have to pay to park at the facility during our practice time. However, if after or before our practice you wish to attend Stampede then you’ll have to pay $20/day (or $40 for RVs) Cash only.
Also I want to pass along some disappointing news from Bowview Pool. Due to the water main break Bowview remains closed to swimmers. With the repairs being nearly complete and the time it takes to chemically balance the pool, they regret to inform us that our Sunday July 7th practice has been cancelled. We are confident we’ll be swimming outdoors the following Sunday.

Welcome Back
(an abridged version of the email all new and returning CMSC members would have received on Aug 30)
Hello CMSC!
For our new members, welcome to Calgary Masters Swim Club! It looks like there are about 13 new swimmers this season, so I look forward to seeing you on deck. For returning members, welcome back!
The new season will start on Tuesday, September 5 for evening practices and Wednesday, September 6 for early-bird and mid-morning. New members, please go to the front desk and tell them you are with CMSC, they will let you
through. Returning members, please continue to use your MNP access cards to enter through the back gate for practices. New access cards will be handed out once we receive them. We are hoping to have them by mid-September, but stay tuned!
As a reminder, practice times are as follows:
Early-bird: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00 – 7:00am (Fridays stay at 6am until mid-October, then move to 5:30 –6:30am)
Mid-morning: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9:15 – 10:15am
Evenings: Tuesday, Thursday 7:00 – 8:30pm
Weekend workouts: Saturday 10:30 – 12:00pm, Sundays 9:00 – 10:30am
For our new members: Email is the club’s primary communication tool, and we try to keep the website up to date.
Our “members only documentation” section password protected. You will have received the password through the original “Welcome Back” email.
There you will find the CMSC executive, rules about lane etiquette and our club bylaws.
You’ll also find the monthly training calendar on the website. Please note we have one more Sunday swim at Bowview and that we have a Holiday swim September 4th from 9:15-10:45.
You will also receive an email with the monthly calendar along with any changes to the schedule throughout the month.
The vast majority of emails will come from our Communications Director communications@cmsc.ab.ca.
There is a members only Facebook page you are welcome to join as well as a Strava group, both are completely optional.
Thinking of becoming a member at MNP? A fellow CMSC member has brought it to our attention that CMSC members are also eligible for a discounted membership with MNP. Members should be able to show their receipt of payment from CMSC to prove they are members and receive a discount!
Have a great day and see everyone on deck,
Jess Craig
